Adger - Burchfield Branch Park
This COE campground is a long
way off the main road - something like 20 miles or more of twisty - narrow roads depending on which way you go. $18/night 50 amp, water, dump station. Some lakefront sites have hookups on the wrong side.
Conclusion - A lovely, lovely serene
CG with spacious sites some directly on the water or tucked in the woods. Nice paved roads. Small grocery is about 5-7 miles away otherwise you are really out in the boonies - so come equipped. We did not explore the CG like we normally do - we were visiting with friends who were camped there also. Dump station was easy to access. CG hosts were so pleasant.
09/07 - Rating 9 (if it were not so far out we’d give it a 10)
Greenville - Sherling Lake Park Campground - This is a pretty campground about 4 miles off I-65 so a perfect location for an overnight stay. Unfortunately I don’t recall our site number. I think it is 3 and I say that because a couple of sites behind us were 4 and 5. A mix of hookup options. Some with full hookup with 50 amp - some with w/e only. Free WiFi available.
Conclusion — Very quiet and lots of shade throughout the CG. It worked great as an overnight stop, however, the CG layout was a bit strange. Many sites lacked privacy and some had no picnic table, grills or fire pits. — like ours. Some were even worse as they had no grass beside the patio. Your door would open directly onto the road. My guess those are used for long term stays or over night.
Overall I think this CG has amazing opportunity, but it misses the mark on many sites. If the hookups were on the opposite side it would improve the enjoyment and usability for more guests. Having said that — there are a few sites that are very nice and I’m sure the locals snap them up quickly. E.g., Site 18. It would be my pick.
08/09 Rating - 8.5 Although I dislike the layout, I would stay again for overnight as it is easy to get to and the staff were extremely nice. The free WiFi did not work from our site, but we have an aircard so I did not investigate. See a few more site pics here.
Owners visit the service area for warranty and non-warranty work. The parts facility is within the building, so in most cases you will not have to wait a lengthy period for specific parts.
If you have a long list of items and arrive without an appointment you could wait more than 2 weeks to get into a bay. If you have a short list that can be fixed in 6 hours or less you will be assigned into an Express Bay - wait time to get in is generally just a few days. Most owners know the appointment process. July 1 the appointment reservations open up for the next year. Contact Peggy Elliott @ Tiffin to get on the calendar.
Free for warranty stays — $10/night for “out of warranty” stays. water, 50 amp, sewer, WiFi, laundry and camp store, central area to wash your own coach (cannot do it @ your site).
Conclusion - Amenities - in terms of comfort - great except they do not have cable. Besides the full hookups, they have a full service camp store, nice restrooms with 2 showers. Each shower has a separate dressing area — a door to shower area ensures total privacy. A large laundry room with 5 washer and dryers closes 7:30 p.m. WiFi that works from your coach if your site is close to the campground office otherwise you’ll find it is best to take your laptop to the laundry room. The camp store stocks a good variety of typical RV supplies, but you can also order parts for your Tiffin coach from the store. A Tiffin employee will fetch the part from their warehouse and deliver it back to the store for you to pickup later. If it is out of stock you can make arrangements to have it shipped to you.
Red Bay is a very small town - feels like you stepped back in time. It is also in a dry county so stock up on any alcoholic beverages. Just two grocery stores (Piggly Wiggly and Big Star), CVS Pharmacy, a McDonalds, Jacks (fast food — breakfast, burgers, fried chix), some local restaurants and a couple of hardware stores, etc. Bring a good book or be sure your satellite TV is working otherwise you could get quite bored. However, if you like to socialize you’ll always find a group of owners enjoying an evening together.
Plenty of space to take long walks. Very dusty here —- your coach will need a bath after you leave. Do it your self @ the wash station or there is a place across the street that will wash/wax your coach for $300.
12/05, 08/09 - Rating - 9. Due to cheap rate and service convenience - not its beauty - obviously this was never intended for that.
