Guest Book

Thank you so much for clicking on the Guest Book.   I sure hope you take time to sign it and tell me a little about yourself - it’s always great to hear from those who find their way to the blog.

The purpose of this blog is to share my thoughts and experiences about my various hobbies, special projects and our RV travels.  You can read more about all of these categories by following the journal posts (usually twice a week) and if your looking for something more specific, take a look at the options listed on the side bar menu.  RVers (new or veterans) may be interested in how & why we got started in RVing — you can read that story here

Thanks for looking (TFL) and stop by again - anytime!

Hey Casey -- Welcome. Thanks so much for the nice comments - i'm very flattered.

A month in SC eh? Now we could go for that. I bet you can't wait. We've been to Beaufort - loads of history there. Drive safely and enjoy your stay.

Donna -- Thanks for identifying your town. I'll have to see if any COE CGs might be near Pratville. I'm always on the hunt for great COE (Corp of Eng) CGs. As long as we own our Bus we'll probably make atleast one annual trip to Red Bay each year - we should do more to see other parts of Alabama when we do so.

Welcome Debbie! I just saw your comment (eek!) Having such poor WiFi last month - i'm way behind on monitoring some of my site, etc - so i apologize for not acknowledging your visit sooner. Thanks for stopping by. We are planning to visit Mistletoe State Park which is on the Eastern side of Georgia -- not sure how close it is to Augusta. I should see what RV parks are close to that. Tom would love to see the Masters someday and so would I. Glad your enjoying the site.

I signed your guestbook in Nov. and you ask where Central Alabama was. I am from a town called Prattville about 10 miles north of Montgomery. We are a growing little town, so hope you may stop by if you are ever in the neighborhood
Hi Lucy...I just love your site and just told the DH about it and now he is sitting here checking it out too. You seem to be such a talented person and do really great work. Thanks for the great site. I look forward to any updates as I check back often. We are sorta neighbors as we are from Grovetown, Ga...just outside Augusta. (Home of the Masters!!!)

Welcome Donna from Central Alabama -- hmmm wondering where that might be - we drove thru Central Alabama last year after our trip to Topsail in Florida - on our way to Red Bay. Hey glad you found the site and are enjoying it. Stop back anytime.

Hi Lucy,
I have enjoyed your site, I spent most of the day looking and reading when I should have been working! LOL I did bookmark it so I can come back on night shift for some good stuff to read.

Rachel - I'm so pleased you found this site and thank you so much for your comments. Regarding how we find great CGs -- good question. I feel pretty confident that most COE CGs are great.. that's our experience so far. I think i'll do a post on this topic or create a FAQ section. There is alot to say on this subject and it might be best to have a permanent section for it.

So until i get that new section created, i'd encourage you to checkout COE (Corp of Eng) CGs. Most use or to handle their reservations. I like this system as it lets you pick a specific site & if you don't have pictures atleast you can make some decisions based on the site details they offer - such as length - whether it's shaded - how close to restrooms, etc.

Sure wish i could offer some help on Coast to Coast - unfortunately i don't know anything about this organization. I'm sure someone of the forum will have some good advice. Good luck and thanks again for stopping by.

I have throughly enjoyed your site. We have just purchased a new RV and are beginning to get away more often. We love "Roughing it Smoothly" as the Tiffins say.!

How do you find all the good camping sites that you have listed? We are looking for good safe sites to camp and looks as if you have found some great ones. Thanks for sharing the info.

We are thinking about joining Coast to Coast but not sure yet. I am going to check with the forum and get ideas on that.

Safe and Happy camping to you, Tom and that beautiful bus.

Welcome Kathy! Thanks so much for stopping by. While it takes time to put together & maintain a website, its like a hobby for me - one i really enjoy. My website provider (Squarespace) makes it very easy. Their framework & tools are incredible. When Tom retires we will travel even more and have much more to say about life on the road. But either way - stop back anytime. I really appreciate your comments.

Great website. You replied to my message on r.v. net about the top 50 websites so my wife and i decided to check out your website and loved it. I have been trying to talk her into traveling across the U.S. for a couple of years and hopefully your website may help me to convince her how fun it can be!!

Roman and Paula -- Thanks for the visit! I hear you on the limits of weekend RVing -- Work committments sure put the skids to going West (far West). But Key West -- we can't wait to get down there - how lucky you are to have made that trip.

Re: the Beetle - i don't think you can tow it 4 wheels down. We have a 2001 Beetle - we did tow it during our rental RV trip but used a tow dolly. Here is a link to an RV.NET thread on this topic. Perhaps you can find a complete answer here.{Volkswagen%20}|km{exact}|kl{m}|fm{31}|pd{365}|ma{}/sr/1.cfm

Hope this helps.. Happy RVing -

Hi Lucy,
Got to your site from Good luck to you in your new MH. We are new at RVing too; we have a 2003 Damon UltraSport, Diesel pusher, 38'. It's not camping, but it's comfortable and we love it.

We both still work so right now just use it about once a weekend/few days a month during the non winter months in Maryland.

Went all the way down to Key West on one of our first trips, loved it, recommend it.

Question: We are considering buying for a toad, a 2003 VW Beatle diesel standard shift. Can we tow it 4 down? We have a BlueOx system and currently tow a Grand Jeep Cherokee.

Good luck to you,
Roman and Paula

Peter - Thanks for visiting the Guest Book and for your nice comments.

Though i already answered your question to you direct..thought i'd make this entry in case other people stop by & are curious about how i do this website.

The majority of what you see - are features available thru my provider Squarespace. While i do create my own banner and add in some clip art - the techy things, file storage, templates to create the journal, add pics, etc - are easily accomplished with this provider. I can even resize pics though i usually have that step done before uploading them. I can change the colors or template -- at any time - within minutes. These are standard features of Squarespace.

I use a royalty-free website to get the clipart you see.

Hi Lucy,I was just about to logout of your site when I spotted the guest book, so here I am again, did you do your own website? it is a dream to wander through.
Have done a lot of camping and caravaning, I think you call "caravans" trailers? over the years, have been all over Australia, (several times) our country is only a little smaller than the USA so that's a lot of traveling
