Guest Book

Thank you so much for clicking on the Guest Book.   I sure hope you take time to sign it and tell me a little about yourself - it’s always great to hear from those who find their way to the blog.

The purpose of this blog is to share my thoughts and experiences about my various hobbies, special projects and our RV travels.  You can read more about all of these categories by following the journal posts (usually twice a week) and if your looking for something more specific, take a look at the options listed on the side bar menu.  RVers (new or veterans) may be interested in how & why we got started in RVing — you can read that story here

Thanks for looking (TFL) and stop by again - anytime!

Hello!
Thought I would come visit again. Thoroughly enjoyed looking at your photos. Am suffering from a very bad case of envyitis. RV is fabuluous.
My mum is retired and I get to live vicariously thru her as well. Can't wait for my turn!
You are very talented and funny. I am hoping to be a regular guest here. Thanks for having me!

Joel - I'm glad you stopped by and some of our info is helping you in your important decision. Newmar was a contender for us - but at the time we were buying - their interior ceiling height was inadequate. Tom is 6'5. We also were concerned about the recent warranty reduction. Tiffin's legendary customer service was a big factor and we also liked the interior fit and finish over Newmar. No doubt we are missing an important issue on Tiffin - due to our inexperience - but so far we have had no major issues and the post PDI issues they handled swiftly - at no cost to us of course. Even gave us a fuel rebate for our 1st drive to Red Bay - which we decided to make.

Also - i did take some new interior pictures - and will be uploading them soon as i get them resized. Some of my initial pictures were a bit blurry i think.

Hi-
Enjoyed the pics I've had time to look at so far, and glad you guys love RVing. We've been at it in the same old Pace Arrow for 21 years. For the past 2 we've spent a lot of time considering a new coach. We narrowed it down to Newmar because of their reputation, but haven't quite decided to pony up the dough. A Monaco Camelot is still a possibility, but some quality issues remain, and the occasional frustrated Open Roads Forum post by a frustrated Monaco owner puts us off. Newmar's Mountain Aire diesel has been my preference, with Dutch Star next, but this year they reduced their warranty from 3 to 1 year, a move that prompted me to stop and reconnoiter.

A lot of Forum folks liked Tiffin as a company, so we finally looked at their product a couple weeks ago. I had a few issues with quality (esp. electrical designs) and chassis/engine configurations, but given the Kudos by Tiffen owners online, and the more affordable prices, Allegro Bus has become a contender for our business. By doing your homework ahead of time, you managed to secure for yourself a good rig in spite of your lack of experience. Your photos help encourage us to keep Tiffen strongly in the running.

Soon, we will take a trip to Coburg, OR to experience once more the so-called Daffodil Drive outside town, and to visit a favorite dealer and salesman where we can compare Allegro Bus and Newmars side by side. They fortunately began selling Tiffen's this year.
Congrats on your fine RV and great site.

Don - Thanks for the comments. I'm glad the RV information is helpful to you. Fulltiming huh? I really admire folks who do this.. i don't know if we'll ever fulltime..most likely we'll just go on the road for 3-6 months at a time.

Tiffin makes a great product..we seriously considered a Phaeton. Good luck with whatever you buy and safe travels to both of you.

Dear Lucy,
I really enjoyed your informative site. My wife and I are retired and thinking of fulltiming,so we enjoyed your motorhome story sharing.. We have narrowed the search down to a Tiffin Phaeton or Monaco Knight. I think either coach will be an excellent choice, but still shopping. I think I still have some work to do to convince my wife she will love the traveling lifestyle. Really enjoyed your motorhome pictures, comments, and evaluations.

Prince Charming - What a coincidence to be at the same campground at the same time. We truly loved Mountain Stream - that stream was heavenly. If we went back - i think we would try to get a bigger site. We did not join the entertainment Sat. night though - too much hiking i think - lol. New Bern huh -we were going to drive down there for a trip this weekend but decided to stay closer to home this time. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Lucy, I was just reading in the open road forum saw your name which amused me and then as I began to read saw where you were in Mountain Stream RV park same weekend we were then and we remembered your Allegro just up from us. We were in lot #12 for 5 days and left on Monday to come back home to New Bern. It was our second time back as we were there for 7 days back on 4th of July this year. We just absolutely love the place and so centrally located to everything close by. Never did learn how to catch those pesky trout but fell in love with the stream and it's lovely sound. At the dinner the night the Songsmen were there we made the spagetti and wife made Crab dip as well. Your home is absolutely beautiful hon. We have a 31' Rockwood pull with a PSD Ford Diesel. It seems no matter what you are camping in,RV'ing is such a peaceful way of life and I beleive adds years to your life. Hope to see you again on the trails somewhere. Bye and enjoy the good-life.
Lucy,

YES, Happy Blue Man Walker, I like it.... Thats my choice. It's up and cheerful and you can be a Happy Blue LU Walker. The toon projects a possitive feel and energy. So be A HAPPY BLUE LU WALKER!

Love you,
Ricky.

Hey Kim - Welcome - glad you enjoy my ramblings (as i call them).

RV gift ideas..hmmm - my first thought was a Lafuma Recliner. We learned on the RV.NET forum..that this is THE BEST brand for recliners - and we agree. Though costly - it is sturdy as a rock, comes in many colors, 2 different sizes and you can order replaceable parts. Checkout http://www.foldingrecliners.com/lafuma_cat/folding_recliners to learn more. You can also get these at the Healthy Back store - but not sure of their "in store" inventory.

For a funny gift - try Brookstone Store - look for BIG calcuator. RVs requires Big Spending.. we laughed when we saw it - bought a couple for xmas gifts last year. Check out my latest journal entry. for more info. Cute gift..gets laughs. You really need to see in person to see the humor. It's 8.5" X 11".

Practical gift - Coleman Campstove - We just bought one this past weekend...There are several sizes..some use butane fuel others propane. We chose the propane one - to avoid having a liquid fuel solution & it was a smaller footprint. We got ours at Walmart - but check out this link to see picture.

Hope these ideas help. Of course a gift certificate is always useful.

Hi Lucy!

I found your website on the RV.net site and have really enjoyed reading your blog!

My Mom and her companion are going on their first RV trip from Florida to North Carolina this weekend. Any suggestions on a gift that might come in handy for them? I wanted to give them something they might actually use.

I love your scrapbooking...what a nice way to journal your travels!

Thanks in advance for any gift ideas you can give me!

Hi Lucy -
CJ told me about your blog -- we share many common interests. Very impressed with your scrapping - I just started that (why, oh why????). Haven't learned to use by embroidery module on the Bernina either - but I've been using the Brother Ultra for a few years. Currently, my blog is www.bakers.squarespace.com. I'll post some sewing pictures soon.
Good luck on your RVing and I'll keep checking in.

Lucy, I agree you've got the knack, very entertaining reading! And the new Coach is absolutely beautiful!

I noticed you mentioned getting Directv in the coach, you might want to check out Direcway with a bow (bird on the wire, enables Directv as well as internet) so you can have internet access anywhere you go. Available in either motorized roof mounts or tripod setups.

Hey Jan - I knew you'd be the first to sign the guest book! he he.. You and I think alike (you always new that didn't you!) I do plan to add some links accessible from the welcome page. Besides product links - I have read some really cool blogs that might interest others - and these blogs have links to other blogs, and so on. It's like electronic hands across America. Some are just everyday indivduals and others are small businesses or creative talents waiting for discovery. So come back to visit - I'll be adding a few of these over time. Lucy
