Cheery Quilts

It’s a little cheery in the sewing room right now.

Progress on the doll quilt continues.  The baby and bed arrived on Wednesday  — a good thing.  I sure needed something to motivate me to finish piecing the bazillion 1.5” squares.  Well it feels like a bazillion.  I do have more done than what is shown here.  Really I do.  giggle

Once I saw the bed and the doll that left no question on how to finish this.  Pink backing and pillow case.  This will go to Olyvia, my grand niece.

Other things. The symphony fabric for the Family Room quilt is here and the cutting continues for the King Scrappy quilt for the Bus.

And I cleaned out my stash.  It was getting pretty messy.  Again.

When I did that, I felt so guilty about all the fabric I bought and never used on the Orange Crush mystery quilt last year.  i.e., the flowered, blue, and orange fabrics below.  So a new project was in order.

There is a lot more Orange Crush leftovers than just these 3 fabrics, but that’s all I’m focusing on right now.  It’s all bright colors — stuff I’d probably never use without some effort.  sigh  Anyway, I decided I should make at least one quilt a year to use it up.

The first one will be called Picnic Hour and I’m going to use AmandaJean’s Hourglass pattern.  Mine will be 60 X 60.

I know me — if I don’t like the fabric combinations, I’ll never finish it so I added a few new ones to the mix.  The back will need to be pieced, but that’s great.  It will force me to use up all of the 3 orphan fabrics — plus some.  And I’m using white for the first time.  Yikes!  Hope that works OK.

If I get brave, I may stipple this myself.  Or not.  We’ll see.

Unlike Amanda, mine will not be done in 1 week.  grin

oh wow that looks like it's going to be FUN! I'm flipped over that brown flower print, makes me think of banana seat bicycles and good times! LOL

I usually don't go for bright colors, but something about this combination speaks to me. I really like. I love the simple design that you have chosen.

Thanks gals!

Yea CJ -- it does remind me of those seats!! ha ha. I remember those. When I first saw it I thought of the flower logos used on Laugh In -- the 70's show.

Re: the colors Julia - I know what you mean - Me neither. I have a lot of even bolder colors than these in my stash. cringe What a challenge.
